November 13, 2001

 

The regular meeting of the Wilson Town Board was held Monday,  November 13, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Town Hall.

Present were:

A motion was made by Mr. Luff, seconded by Mr. Clark and unanimously carried, the minutes of the October 15, 19, 26 and November 5, 2001 meetings be approved as submitted by the Clerk. 

A motion was made by Mr. Luff, seconded by Mrs. Simmons and unanimously carried, the following bills be approved as read by the Clerk:

 A request was received from Deputy Town Clerk A Diane Muscoreil that she be appointed chairman of the newly formed Tourism Committee. 

The Building Inspector’s Report was received and showed 13 building permits issued during October valued at $269,100.00  with total fees of $698.20. One permit was for a new home. 

A notice was received that Niagara County Agricultural District #6, in the townships of Cambria, Lockport, Pendleton, Wheatfield and Wilson is being  reviewed  for renewal, modification or termination and directing  any questions on this matter to the  Cornell Cooperative Extension  Educator at 433-2651. 

Douglas Edwards, Randall Road spoke during public participation.

 Mr. Moxham reported that he appeared in court on the Danielewicz zoning matter and that  Francis and Stephania Danielewicz  were ordered  to demolish  the building at 3137 Maple Road and remove all of the debris by December 15, 2001. 

A Resolution was offered by Mr. Luff, seconded by Mrs. Simmons, and unanimously adopted, E & R  Construction, 38 St. David’s Drive, West Seneca NY be awarded the bid for water system expansion at Lake Road and North Beebe Road and Shore Drive and Park Street in the amount of $144,482.00.

A Resolution was offered by Mr. Muck, seconded by Mr. Clark and unanimously adopted, the  pay rates be set for employees of the Public Works Department effective January 1, 2002 as read by the Supervisor.  Copy attached to these minutes. 

A Resolution was offered by Mr. Luff, seconded by Mr. Muck and unanimously adopted, empowering  the Town Highway Superintendent, as an agent of the Town Board, to enter into a ice control and snow removal contract with the Commissioner of Public Works, acting as County Superintendent of Highways, for a period of one year.  Copy attached to these minutes. 

A motion was made by Mr. Muck, seconded by Mrs. Simmons and unanimously carried,  creating a  Town  Tourism Committee to encourage tourism in our area and that A. Diane Muscoreil be appointed Chairman. 

The Supervisor made the following appointments to the Tourism Committee:

Brad Clark, Leanne  Haley-Brown, Wanda Burrows and Jerry Dean. 

A Resolution was offered by Mr. Muck, seconded by Mrs. Simmons and unanimously adopted, authorizing renewal of the  Sunset Island BAN which comes due January 4, 2002, interest to be determined upon information obtained closer to the renewal date. 

A Resolution was offered by Mr. Muck, seconded by Mr. Luff and unanimously adopted, authorizing the transfer of $9,343.99 from the Sunset Island Sewer Fund to the A Fund as reimbursement for Sunset Island Sewer BAN renewal. 

The Supervisor reminded residents of a special agricultural tire pickup scheduled for Monday, November 26, 2001 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bruce Muck Farm, 3490 Wilson Cambria Road. 

There was a discussion of overdrawn accounts and the need to monitor account balances more closely. 

There was a discussion of purchasing a new printer for the Water District.  It was noted that the Town of Cambria, who is using the same program as our Water District,  just purchased a new printer.  Diane Muscoreil will contact Cambria to gain information on the type of printer purchased and how well it is working. 

Mr. Clark spoke about the need to do  a  testing at the landfill at this time. 

Mr. Clark requested  the Town Clerk  send a letter of thanks to Senator George Maziarz , on behalf of the Town Board,  for his assistance in creating a no passing zone on Route 18 in the Roosevelt Beach area of Town  near  the newly opened convenience store. 

The Town Clerk will order an American flag and a New York State flag to replace those now in the auditorium 

Mr. Moxham recognized the Wilson Central School District Boys and Girls Soccer Teams  who will be competing in the state finals. 

The next workshop meeting will be Monday, December 3, 2001.

The next regular meeting will be Monday, December 17, 2001. 

A motion was made by Mr. Muck, seconded by Mr. Luff and unanimously carried,  the meeting be adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
