The regular meeting of the
Wilson Town Board was held Monday, June 17, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. in
the auditorium of the Town Hall.
The following people were

A motion was made by Mr. Clark,
seconded by Mr. Luff and unanimously carried, the minutes of the
May 21, 2002 and the June 3, 2002 meeting be approved as
submitted by the Clerk.
A motion was made by Mrs.
Simmons, seconded by Mr. Luff and unanimously carried, the

Quotes for the Town’s insurance
were received from Seaway Insurance Associates, Gasport, and
Foote-Mandaville Insurance, Newfane NY. These bids will be
reviewed and awarded at a later date.
An invitation was received from
Kathy Sullivan to stop at 66 Sunset Island for refreshments
following the walkabout Sunset Island on Monday, July 1, 2002 at
4:00 p.m.
Notice was received from Robert
L. Black that the Wilson Yacht Club, Treasure Island, has
applied for renewal of a liquor license for the period July 1,
2002 to June 30, 2003.
A letter was received from Roy
C. Naughton regarding the veterans’ tax exemption in the Town of
Wilson. Mr. Naughton would like the Town Board to reinstate the
percentage property tax exemption for Veterans in place of the
dollar exemption that presently exists.
A request was received from
Justices Berger and Botzer for authorization to attend the NYS
Magistrates Association Conference in Alexandria Bay September 29
thru October 2, 2002. The registration fee is $50 per person and
the room rate is $198 per person per night.
No one wished to speak during
public participation.
The next Planning Board Meeting
will be held Monday, July 15, 2002.
Mr. Banks reported 17 building
permits were issued in May for a total estimated value of
$463,000.
Mr. Moxham reported that the
Ward Zoning Violation on Ide Road has been adjourned until August
and the Stepanowicz Zoning Violation on Randall Road is due in
Town Court this month.
A Resolution was offered by Mr.
Clark, seconded by Mr. Muck and unanimously adopted, five (5)
Recreation Leader P/T positions be created effective June 3, 2002
A Resolution was offered by Mr.
Dean, seconded by Mr. Muck and unanimously adopted, the following
workers and rates of pay be approved for the Summer Recreation
Basketball Clinic:

Mr. Dean thanked Wanda Burrows
and Diane Muscoreil for the fine work they did on this year’s 17th
annual 5K race.
A Resolution was offered by Mr.
Muck, seconded by Mr. Clark and unanimously adopted, the 2002 5K
race revenues be distributed as follows:

A Resolution was offered by Mr.
Clark, seconded by Mrs. Simmons and unanimously adopted,
authorizing the transfer of that portion of property at 78 Harbor
Street deeded to the County of Niagara and the Town of Wilson on
January 1, 1930 for the purpose of becoming part of the public
highway, to Dorothy Wilson. On January 5, 1943 the County of
Niagara deeded a portion of the property back to the owner,
however there never was a deed from the Town of Wilson to the
property owner.
A motion was made by Mr. Clark,
seconded by Mrs. Simmons and unanimously carried, Justices Berger
and Botzer be authorized to attend the NYS Magistrates Conference
as requested.
Veterans exemptions will be
discussed at a workshop meeting.
Mr. Dean thanked Mr. Clark for
the nice work he did installing the storage cupboards in the
postage meter room.
The next workshop meeting will
be called at Wilson-Tuscarora State Park to walk around Sunset
Island Monday, July 1, 2002 at 4:00 p.m.
The next regular meeting will be
Monday, July 15, 2002.
A motion was made by Mr. Dean,
seconded by Mrs. Simmons and unanimously carried, the meeting be
adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
