The regular meeting of the Wilson
Town Board was held Monday, August 19, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. in the
auditorium of the Town Hall.
The following people were present:

A motion was made by Mr. Luff,
seconded by Mr. Clark and unanimously carried, the minutes of
the July 15, 2002 regular meeting and the August 5, 2002
workshop meeting be approved as submitted by the Town Clerk.
A motion was made by Mr. Muck,
seconded by Mr. Clark and unanimously carried, the following
bills be allowed as audited by the Town Board:

The Clerk was instructed to send a
letter to Foote-Mandeville Insurance conveying the Board’s
displeasure with the invoice that company submitted for
insurance coverage.
Mr. Dean called the public hearing
on a proposed local law increasing the alternative veteran’s
exemption from real property taxation under Section 458-a of the
Real Property Tax Law.
Mr. Dean reviewed the local law.
Richard Bateman, Cleveland Avenue,
spoke.
There being no one else who wished
to be heard, Mr. Dean closed the public hearing.
A Resolution was offered by Mr.
Dean and seconded by Mr. Muck, the proposed local law entitled
“A Local Law to Increase the Alternative Veteran’s Exemption
>From Real Property Taxation Under Section 458-a of the Real
Property Tax Law of the State of New York” be adopted as Local
Law No.3, 2002. Roll call vote responded as follows:

A thank you was received from
South Wilson Volunteer Fire Company for the $2,000 donation from
this year’s 5K Salmon Run. The donation will be used towards
the purchase of jaws of life equipment.
A letter was received from Susan
DeRoller, Kendall, complimenting the Town on the improvements
to the harbor area and the pleasant attitude of those young
people working there.
Dorothy Mitalski, Beebe Road, was
the only person who wished to speak during public participation.
Mr. Banks reported 15 building
permits were issued in July with a total estimated value of
$483,000.00.
The next Planning Board Meeting
will be Monday, September 9, 2002. Mr. Dean spoke about the
Planning Board’s recommendation that the Town Board place a
moratorium on recreational ponds in light of the presence of
West Nile Virus in Niagara County. The Board will consider this
recommendation during the September workshop meeting.
Mr. Moxham reported that the
Stepanowicz zoning violation at 2822 Randall Road will be heard
in court September 18, 2002 and the Ward zoning violation at
4760 Ide Road is scheduled for November 20, 2002.
Mr. Luff spoke about the new NYS
Property Maintenance Code which requires property owners to
display 4 inch house numbers on buildings to assist emergency
crews in locating residences. This will be discussed during
the September workshop meeting.
Mr. Muck expressed his concerns
about the legality of some fences being constructed on Beebe
Road properties and would like to discuss this matter at the
next workshop meeting.
Mr. Clark expressed his concerns
about some signs in Wilson and whether or not they meet our code
requirements.
A motion was made by Mr. Muck,
seconded by Mrs. Simmons and unanimously carried, a public
hearing on a local law to correct an error in Local Law No. 3,
2000 pertaining to hospitalization, medical and dental coverage
be set for Monday, September 16, 2002 at 7:30 p.m.
The next workshop meeting will be
held, Monday, September 9, 2002 and the next regular meeting
will be held Monday, September 16, 2002.
A motion was made by Mr. Muck,
seconded by Mrs. Simmons and unanimously carried, the meeting be
adjourned at 8:49 p.m.
Following the meeting Mary
Christie, Washington Street, Village of Wilson, spoke about the
problems she is experiencing with dogs running loose in the
Village.
